Hi Leaders,
“Where do we go from here: chaos or community?” – Martin Luther King, Jr.
During peaceful protesting, there are also equal and opposite reactions of violent rioters and opportunistic looters.
Many women, LGBTQ+, and minority-owned small businesses and non-profits have been hit hard, left devastated, and are without access to capital.
In rebuilding communities, as many of you know, we care about empowering, supporting, and inspiring more diverse leaders ~ with more passion, purpose, and prosperity in our lives.
Our award-winning Women’s Biz Coop serves on Rebuild Oversight Committee: a $500 million-dollar project to level the playing field for women, and/or minority organizations to rebuild schools, libraries, and parks—essentially neighborhoods in Philadelphia funded by the soda tax.
Last year, pre-COVID-19, we hit a historical milestone, where our local contracts were awarded to majority women and/or minority-owned businesses and non-profit organizations.
It was a first for Philadelphia ~ and the world noticed, with major radio to press coverage!
It’s an honor to share the wonderful news with you!
Unfortunately, the rioters and looters have decimated, burned down, and temporarily destroyed our progress within our neighborhoods.
While we can’t undo what’s been done and our problem-solving business owners and change-making non-profit leaders have been affected, we can begin again to rebuild communities and share equal opportunities.
To spread more caring and sharing in the world, we hear you and your racing thoughts that keep you up at night.
My organization has been looted or burned down. I’ve had to fire, layoff, or reduce my staff. What can I do to make money?
Who can I turn to for help when everyone is supporting protestors or concerned about re-opening with COVID-19?
What about my calling, purpose, or mission? Do I even dare to dream another dream during this time?
How will I support my family?
And here’re our long-winded answers for you…
As many of you who study our Secrets of 10%: How to Win in Almost Any Situation based on Sun Tzu’s Art of War—where we learn about how a minority wins against a majority—know, we on the Imagine Team have been discussing and role modeling the concept of the Yang to Yin to New Power Paradigm.
In a Yang Power Paradigm, there’re a few that control many, including who gets hired for job jobs, what time you work, how far you’ll go, and how much money you’ll make. We are chimpanzees climbing to the top of the ladder, fighting for food, health, and partners.
In a Yin Power Paradigm, there’re many that control no one, including who gets hired for job jobs, what time you work, how far you’ll go, and how much money you’ll make. We are bonobos, hanging at the bottom, sharing food, scratching each other’s backs, and making love all day.
In a New Power Paradigm, there’re many and few that control no one, because there is no one ~ only one.
“You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and your God; it was never between you and them anyway.” – Mother Teresa
The long and short of it is, we are hiring!

My dad lost his business. For nine months he cleaned, vacuumed, and made the bed military style with a hotel touch of turning down the corner and adding chocolate on the pillow.
My parents had a more traditional relationship, where my mom did domestic while working as a teacher and my dad did business. I didn’t know that he knew how to do these things. I thought he was going to lose his mind.
One day, to get out of the house, he helped our neighbors add a concrete basketball court for their sons. They hired him to pour and lay concrete for a few dollars an hour.
After looking for a job for nine months, he didn’t care what he made or how much they paid him. Our house wasn’t as clean, vacuumed, or beds neatly as made, but my dad was so much happier.
Let’s rebuild our communities together with happier problem-solving business owners and change-making non-profit leaders!
Inspired by Mother Teresa’s poem, Anyway, we hope that this brings you forgiveness, kindness, success, and an honest and frank lens of who we are, what we stand for, why we do what we do, and how we do it.
For you, we continue to build, do good, and give the world the best we’ve got anyway and always.
Thank you for your continued leadership!
Yours in Service,
Judi Rhee Alloway and our Imagine Team
